I’m all about thinking of different ways to make extra money. Who isn’t these days? I don’t know about you, but a few extra bucks in my pocket is always a good thing in my book. A penny saved is a penny earned, right? I love sharing my secrets for stashing away some extra cash with all of my family and friends, so I figured why not share them with my readers. If you like saving money like I do, check out my list of all the ways I make extra money.
10 Ways To Make Extra Money
My number one way to make extra money is with Ebates. It’s really a no brainer and it’s too easy not to use. There are two ways to use Ebates that I find to be the most helpful. First is by downloading the Ebates Cash Back Button for your desktops toolbar. When you visit a website Ebates will automatically pop up a notification on the top right hand side of your screen notifying you that there is an Ebate available for whatever site it is you are shopping on. When you click “activate” Ebates automatically logs your purchase and starts saving you money for your “Big Fat Check”. Those payments are then paid quarterly in the form of a PayPal deposit, check by mail, or you can donate your savings to your favorite charity, organization or family member.
If you do a lot of shopping on your tablet or phone you can download the Ebates app. When you want to make a purchase you just open up the Ebates app and search for the website you would like to shop on, and save money. Easy peasy! In the past month alone I have made $62.50 back with purchases I made through Ebates! Shopping in store? Link Ebates to your debit/credit card and watch the savings roll in when you link up their current “in store” offers. You can also find coupon codes offered by Ebates by using the app and the desktop button.
When I am shopping in store I make sure that I check for coupons on SnipSnap before I check out, always. I love SnipSnap because I can use my own coupons as well as other people’s coupons. I notoriously stockpile coupons at home but then forget them when I head out to the store. With SnipSnap I can just snap a picture of the coupon when I receive in the mail and save it on my iPhone to use when I go shopping. That way I am never without a coupon when I am out and about.
I am a stickler for using coupon codes. Honestly, it makes my skin crawl when I have to buy something online without using one. It’s like flushing money down the toilet if you don’t take a few minutes to look for a coupon code. When I am shopping online I use a lot of different websites to look for coupons but my most favorite is Retailmenot.
The second I get in my car after a shopping trip at Walmart I immediately open up my Walmart App and scan my receipt with Savings Catcher. Last year I made $89 back with by using Walmart Savings Catcher. In 2015 I made $81 back. When you use Walmart Savings Catcher you rack up money on their app that you can then convert to a Walmart gift card that you can use for future shopping trips. For us this is great because I don’t have to cut coupons. Walmart Savings Catcher compares the prices of the eligible items you bought at Walmart to the advertised prices found in the print and online versions of the weekly ads of top retailers in your area. If Walmart Savings Catcher finds an advertised price that is lower than what you paid for the same exact item at Walmart, you’ll get back the difference in the form of Savings Catcher Reward Dollars, which can be redeemed for a Walmart Rewards eGift Card or Walmart Buck$ added to your Bluebird by American Express Card, which can be used to make purchases exclusively in-store at Walmart or online at Walmart.com.
Bed Bath & Beyond Coupons
I love Bed Bath & Beyond but I absolutely refuse to ever pay full price for anything when I shop there. Not a chance. Did you know you can use multiple coupons at Bed Bath & Beyond…AND expired coupons? Yes you can! I collect Bed Bath & Beyond coupons more than any other coupon. I keep a stash of them in a Ziploc in my purse at all times. My Grandma even collects the ones that she gets in the mail and saves them for me. Every time I see her she has a new pile for me. Best Grandma ever! I have so many that when I am stuck in line and see someone that doesn’t have one I give them one. The only Bed Bath & Beyond coupons that do expire are their digital ones, but I always have one on hand just in case.
I don’t know what I did before Amazon Prime, seriously how did I function in life. I am all about instant gratification and I hate waiting for shipping. With Amazon Prime, you receive FREE Two-Day Shipping for eligible purchases, unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows with Prime Video, and the ability to borrow books from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library for $99 a year or $10.99 a month. Amazon Family provides Prime members exclusive family-oriented offers, coupons, age-based recommendations, 20% off diaper subscriptions and a 15% Baby Registry completion discount. I couldn’t live without Amazon Prime and I don’t think anyone should. I even bought my parents an annual membership for Christmas last year, the gift that keeps on giving. Not sure if Amazon Prime is for you? Try Amazon Prime’s 30-Day Free Trial. You can also go here to try Amazon Family free for 30-Days.
Every time I go to Whole Foods I am reminded why it is jokingly called “Whole Paycheck”. While I truly appreciate all of the choices for fresh food (in my area that is hard to come by), I do not appreciate how much I spend every time I am there. I downloaded the Whole Foods app and on average it saves me about $5 – $10 on every trip. Mind you, I go to Whole Foods about once a week, so that is a savings of $260 – $520 a year. It may not seem like a lot at the moment but it all adds up!
Another place I feel like I am getting robbed is Target. I swear that I can’t leave Target without spending at least $100. I actually had to ban family trips there because our spending was so out of control every time we went together. The only way I have found to save money on my Target binges is with the Target Cartwheel App. It is not nearly as good as Walmart Savings Catcher but you can save a few bucks. It would be really great if Target adopted the same type of program that Walmart uses, then I wouldn’t be so opposed to shopping there.
Similar to the Ebates “in store” method, Bank of America also offers cash back for purchases made to specific stores. First you choose the deals that are right for you from a list of current offers. Then you make a qualifying purchase with your eligible Bank of America credit or debit card or Merrill Lynch credit card. Your pending cash back will be credited to your eligible Bank of America account the month following redemption. Last year I made $70 with Bank of America Cashback.
